Hi!! I'd like some informations about studying architecture in UK. Anything actually! I'm graduating in Brazil this year (i'm brazilian) and i'd like to go to UK maybe for a post graduation, I don't know, that's the problem! Some people say that's a great idea, and some people say it's awfull! Coz it's too expensive and i may have problems to find a job. A friend, that lives in London, said that it is not going to be that difficult, but another one said it's impossible for a overseas student to find a job as Architect... so, i was wondering that maybe who is already in UK could help me!
Any information would be really helpful, like CV for example, I'm trying to write mine, and I've realised that graduation and degrees are totally different here and there...
If u could help me with any information, that would be really great!
Thanks a lot, and sorry about any english mistake!!! |

The problem you will face is that your degree in Brazil is unlikely to be accredited as part of the UK architect qualification. You would need to demonstrate to the UK Architects Registration Board that you have met the required standard. And yes, student fees for overseas students are extremely expensive (I would guess around £8000 per year).
From my experience, architects seem to like employing overseas students with exotic names and additional language skills. But unfortunately (a) most architects are based in London, which is incredibly expensive with poor pay for young students (b) the UK construction industry is going into nose dive at the moment, meaning many practices are downsizing their staff numbers |

Oh, I see.... I thought it was going to a little difficult. But is it worth to try?! I mean, I could go maybe for some other course, like a master or something like that, less expensive, maybe find another job, in a bar, a store, whatever... and see what happens. And u know, I've been working with construction here in Brazil,a lot, coz we are like in a middle of "BOOM" they call... an d i really like it! But if in UK things are not so good, I should look for something else.
I've been researching a lot, there are thousands different options for overseas students and jobs and stuff, I'd say that I want to work here for one year or so before going, to save some money and gain some experience. I need some opinions and differents points of view, maybe people who already had this experience, or has a friend under this conditions... u know! I still have hope!!!! LOL
Well lekizz, thank you verry verry much for answer, if u have some other information, I'll be here!!
And again, sorry for any english mistake (i'm trying to improve it!!!)
Thanks again!!!!!!! |
